Adult Male Stag Beetle enclosure

Hello! I was wondering if I HAD to use flake soil? I don’t plan on raising any larva or breeding. I just want to buy adult males to keep as more of observation pets, rather than start breeding them. I see flake soil is mostly for them to eat as grubs or for use with breeding? Since my adult would eat beetle jelly it wouldn’t need the nutrients the larva take from the flake soil, right? I have an old tank that is suitable to stag beetles and a lot of other invertebrate/reptile supplies, so can I use something like repti soil or coco fiber for just a display adult? I was looking at Dorcus species specifically!

If you just plan to have an adult on display then you you absolutely don't need flake. Coco fiber will work just fine
